Chestnut : Sweet Chestnut Regal

If you are lucky enough to have a large garden and you are looking for a large attractive tree, look no further than a nut tree. They are easy to grow, will quickly establish and you will soon be harvesting your own delicious nuts.

Sweet Chestnut Regal is an excellent garden tree as it only grows 5m (15ft) tall in 10 years and nuts will be produced within 2-3 years of planting. Regal makes an attractive tree with shiny green leaves and fragrant mid-summer blossom.

When October arrives the nuts are ready to harvest as they fall to the ground. These can be stored through until January and used for both roasting and making puree.
